Terms of Service
Last updated: October 27, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Samson Cournane, who runs Epieme ("Epieme", "we", "us"), covering your use of epieme.com, its email alerts and its community features. By using Epieme you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Epieme.
Who can use Epieme
- You must be at least 13 years old.
- If you are under 18, you need a parent's or guardian's permission to create an account or to donate.
- You can't use Epieme if we have closed your account, unless we have reinstated it.
Your account
Give accurate information when you sign up and keep your sign-in secure. You're responsible for what happens under your account; if you think someone else has used it, email support@epieme.org. You can delete your account at any time, as described in the privacy policy. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or the community guidelines.
Epieme is information, not advice
Epieme gathers public legislative records, mainly from LegiScan, and adds summaries, relevance scores and suggested next steps. These can be incomplete, out of date or wrong. Nothing on Epieme is legal, medical or lobbying advice. Check the official source, which every record links to, before you rely on it. Data sources and limits explains how the data is gathered.
What you post
- You own what you post. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, copy, format and share it so we can run Epieme. The licence ends when you delete the content, except for copies we keep as the privacy policy describes.
- Discussion posts, comments and public profiles can be seen by anyone, including people who aren't signed in.
- You're responsible for what you post. Only share what you have the right to share, and never post another person's private medical information.
- We don't review everything before it appears, but we may remove content or restrict accounts that break these terms or the community guidelines.
Things you must not do
Follow the community guidelines. In particular, don't:
- break the law, or help anyone else break it;
- harass, threaten or impersonate anyone;
- post spam, or game votes, reports or points, for example with extra accounts or actions you didn't take;
- upload malware, try to get into accounts or systems that aren't yours, or test our security without permission (report problems as described in security.txt);
- scrape or load the site in a way that slows it down for others.
Taking action
Epieme links to legislatures, petition sites and other services. They have their own terms, and we aren't responsible for them. When you contact an official, sign a petition or log an action, you're responsible for what you send and for being truthful about what you did.
Donations
- Donations are voluntary gifts to support Epieme. You don't receive goods or services in return.
- Epieme is not a registered charity, and donations are not tax-deductible.
- Donations are non-refundable. If you were charged by mistake, for example twice for the same gift, email support@epieme.org within 30 days and we will refund the mistaken charge.
- Monthly donations repeat every month until you cancel. You can cancel at any time with the link in your confirmation email or by emailing support@epieme.org; cancelling stops future charges.
- Payments are processed by Stripe, under Stripe's terms.
Copyright complaints
If you believe something on Epieme infringes your copyright, email support@epieme.org with: your name and contact details; the work you believe is infringed; a link to the material on Epieme; a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised; and a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you own the copyright or may act for the owner, with your physical or electronic signature.
If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake, you can send a counter-notice to the same address. We close the accounts of repeat infringers.
Epieme's own content
The Epieme name, logo, design and writing belong to us. Legislative data comes from public records and from LegiScan under its own licence. You're welcome to link to Epieme and to quote it with a link back.
Disclaimers
Epieme is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties, express or implied, including that the site will be accurate, uninterrupted, error-free or fit for a particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or opportunities, arising from your use of Epieme. Our total liability for any claim about Epieme is limited to the greater of $50 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
Indemnity
If someone brings a claim against us because of content you posted or your breach of these terms, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it, to the extent the law allows.
Changes and ending
We may change or stop parts of Epieme. When we change these terms we update the date at the top, and for significant changes we give notice on the site or by email before they take effect. Using Epieme after a change takes effect means you accept it. You can stop using Epieme at any time; we may end your access if you break these terms.
General
If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a term straight away, we haven't given up the right to. These terms, the privacy policy and the community guidelines are the whole agreement between you and us about Epieme.
